Big hair, don’t care —let’s talk volume
Flat hair? We don’t know her. I’ve spent most of my adult life desperately seeking volume and love trying all the products — any recommendations? — BUT these are my tried and true favorites that I buy or use on repeat. Whether you’re chasing that salon-worthy bounce or just trying to convince your roots to wake up, these volume-boosting hair products are here to bring the drama (the good kind). Shop my favorite volume heroes below — because life’s too short for flat hair.
I was introduced to VERB Ghost Shampoo and Conditioner by my stylist and it was love at first wash. The brand has a volume line, but I prefer Ghost’s weightless formula — it cleanses and hydrates my fine hair without weighing it down.
VERB Ghost Oil is one of those products you didn’t know you needed until you tried it. After blow-drying, I rub a little between my palms and apply it to the ends for shine, then lightly smooth it over my crown to tame flyaways.
L’ange Le Volume Eleve is THE hairdryer you need if you’re looking to add volume, IMO. The tear-shaped dryer head lifts the root while drying, and different heat and speed settings get you that perfect blow out.
Pacifica’s Scalp Detox + Tonic makes my scalp feel squeaky clean, and my hair has more bounce when I use it prior to washing. Just a five minute massage on a dry scalp, rinse, and you’re on your way.
She’s not specifically for volume, but Living Proof Perfect Hair Day dry shampoo is the only one I’ve tried that eliminates grease and holds volume on those non-shampoo days.
I love my L’ange Le Vite Straightening Brush — it smooths out my hair without flattening. I like to brush my hair from underneath to give some lift while straightening.
My love for Rusk’s thickr myst is undying — I never let myself run out. It adds fullness and volume while leaving my hair touchably soft.
I’ve tried more expensive hair sprays but I always come back to TRESemme. The Keratin Smooth Blowout version is my current favorite, adding hold without weight, and the price point is spot on.
Beachwaver forever! It’s (almost) foolproof even for someone like me who rarely curls her hair (I’m just lazy). This is the version I use — the curls last. The end. There’s also a Beachwaver “dupe” with good reviews!
Oh, Sexy Hair. The Big Root Pump Spray Mousse is such a favorite, and I just love the sassiness of this brand overall. Not sticky, has heat protectant, and helps lift my hair at the root — the perfect combo.
